Americana music has been defined as incorporating "elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues." For the next event in our exciting Passport Concert Series, BHS welcomes jazz vocalist Barbara Rosene to the Castle for a musical trip through the 1940s and 1950s. Renowned for her passionate interpretation of the great music of the 1920s through the 40s, Barbara takes classic material from all eras of jazz and makes the material sound fresh and emotionally relevant today.

Barbara is the vocalist for The Harry James Orchestra, has performed with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and played such venues as Lincoln Center's Rose Hall, Birdland, The Iridium, Dizzy's, Blues Alley, and The Montreal Jazz Festival. She has been featured on NPR programs such as "Jazz Inspired" and "Hot Jazz Saturday Night" and has been recognized by Backstage Magazine (Bistro Award), "Jazz Improv Magazine," and in Scott Yanow's "Great Jazz Singers."

This event is part of Bayside Historical Society's "Passport Concert Series:  Bringing Cultures from Around the World to the Castle at Bayside." Music is culture expressed through sound. Travel with us to faraway lands to experience the beauty and passion of the music that is our universal language. Keep checking our website for our ongoing concert schedule!
