Educator, Part-Time
Under the direction of the Education Director, teach field trip sessions to K through 5 students at our historic "Castle" building at Fort Totten. Training provided. Maximum 32 students/trip. Typically 6 to 10 mornings per month, though schedule is flexible. Hourly rate. Download the full job description here.

Museum Education Intern

The internship will consist of assisting in day-to-day operations of the Education Department at BHS. Primary responsibilities include facilitating and teaching hands-on workshops that encourage interest in and understanding of history by school children grades K through 5. Event Greeter:

Register visitors at events

Direct visitors to event location

Assist with membership applications

Distribute notices about future events



Building tours during public hours on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday and during Open House NY events


Education Assistant:

Great for retired teachers! Help out with K-5 field trips at the Castle, our historic building at Fort Totten, where students learn about everyday life in Queens in the early 1900s through hands-on activities. Training provided. Maximum 32 students/trip. Flexible schedule — just a few weekday mornings a month!

Gardening Group:

Spring and fall cleanup, planting


Weekly weeding, watering


Project Assistance:  

Installing exhibits

Installing artwork for Annual Winter Art Show

Decorating the Castle for holidays/removing and storing decorations

Lawrence Cemetery Assistant: 

Mowing, cleanup, repairs
