Position Announcement: Executive Director NEW
Summary: The Executive Director (ED), working closely with the Board of Directors and its committees, assumes an overall leadership role and is responsible for the general continuing operations of Bayside Historical Society. This includes but is not limited to: planning, organizing and directing all operational, administrative, fundraising, programmatic aspects of the organization; and managing the day-to-day operations. The ED will work ~30 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday, and other times as necessary, such as attendance at monthly Board meetings and BHS events. The ED reports to the President of the Board and is considered a non-voting member of the Board.

Volunteers
​
Bayside Historical Society offers volunteer opportunities to both young people and adults in the community. In addition, local schools, civic and religious organizations are also able to provide volunteer services to BHS.
Volunteer responsibilities vary, but may include assisting with set-up/tear-down of programs and events, assisting teachers during onsite educational programs, greeting the public, managing ticket sales, seating patrons, and other duties as directed. The primary goal of the volunteer program is to support the mission of BHS as a learning destination, a resource for researchers and the community, and a venue for the visual and performing arts
Volunteers are welcome to participate in all programming and events. All volunteers are asked to identify their personal interests and preferences to facilitate assignments that are most satisfying. Every attempt will be made to assign volunteers to the type of projects and activities that most interest them. All volunteers, upon acceptance into the program, will be given a full orientation as to the policies and procedures of BHS.

Volunteers Needed: Education Program
Bayside Historical Society's Education Committee seeks interested, energetic, history-loving individuals to help with our K - 5 field trip program at the landmarked Officers' Club at Fort Totten in Bayside. This is a great community involvement opportunity, particularly for anyone who enjoys interacting with children.

• Flexible schedule (just a few weekday mornings a month, as your schedule permits!)

Volunteers Needed: Office Assistant
The office is in need of assistance with telephone calls, responding to the visiting public, and assisting BHS staff with event registrations and guest seating. Hours vary and include weekends and evenings.
