About The Event
Join the Bayside Historical Society as we read our way through history.
In an effort to make history accessible and fun, we'll be reading historical fiction and biographies, including both classics and contemporary works. Meetings will take place on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm and will be facilitated by BHS staff or members. At each meeting, book club members will choose new books from a curated list, and they’ll also have the chance to suggest additional titles.
The inaugural meeting of the BHS Book Club on September 24 was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who attended. The Changeling by Victor LaValle was chosen as our next read. With Halloween in mind, we thought a dark fantasy horror novel blending mystery, folklore, and suspense was in order. Victor LaValle grew up in Queens, and the novel takes place in many of our NYC neighborhoods.
Join us on Thursday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. for a lively discussion of the book, sharing of thoughts and theories, and plenty of good conversation.
We’ll see you at the next book club!
