About The Event

The Bayside Historical Society invites you to explore our newest exhibit, which showcases the significance of Bayside's evolution alongside the enduring legacy of the Bell family. This exhibit explores the neighborhood's intriguing development from its origins as "Bay Side," situated east of Flushing, through maps, family trees, and artifacts.

Exhibit Highlights:

  • Explore everyday life and personal expression at the turn of the 20th century through the Bell family's intimate artifacts and keepsakes.

  • Examine rare historical photos and maps that provide deeper insight into Bayside’s early layout and its community development.

  • View documents that highlight the Bell family's influence in shaping and sustaining Bayside's Quaker community and their broader commitment to social justice.

  • Discover the local history of various sites throughout Bayside in a 1960s short film, narrated by a member of the Bell family.

Join BHS as we delve into the lasting impact of the Bell family's contributions to Bayside and the history that has shaped the architecture, culture, and identity of our community.
