Hello, everyone! I'm Elizabeth Fox, the new archivist at BHS. I'd like to introduce myself and share some exciting projects I'm working on. I'm starting with today's "Discovered in the Vault" post, where I'll provide a sneak peek of archival items chosen for upcoming exhibits.
The Bayside Historical Society, along with the Increase Carpenter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, is soon to host an American Revolutionary War traveling exhibit 17-24 March, in partnership with the American Battlefield Trust. It’s the first event to kick off our 2026’s celebrations of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution of Independence, the birth of our country.
The BHS Archives cannot pass up the opportunity to open our own new installations to coincide. We will have a variety of Colonial Quaker Bayside items, as well as a hats off to all the men and women who have fought to maintain the independence and safety of our country, which includes a New York 71st Regiment Officer’s dress uniform circa 1860, a WWII military jacket, and a flask survival kit — to name just a few.
In the meantime, please enjoy some fun items from our vault!
