Open Sew at the Castle

Do you quilt, sew or just love textiles? Join other sewing enthusiasts in an afternoon of creating and socializing. Bring something you are currently working on and enjoy the camaraderie of community sewing! While this is not a sewing class, beginner seamstresses and quilters are most welcome and will find inspiration and guidance. There are a limited number of sewing machines available, but please try to bring your own if you have one. Also, do not feel obligated to sew on a machine — hand work (cross-stitch, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, etc.) is always welcome!
Annual Holiday Dinner Party

Holiday Cookies & Crafts

Join us at the Castle for this walk-in workshop. Families are invited to craft delightful decorations celebrating the winter season. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served, and Santa will be making an appearance!
Bayside Stories — Then and Now

Join us for a walk back in time as we browse through archival material such as photos, slides, and maps of places in and around town. Compare pictures from the past with those familiar with us today and enjoy sharing reminiscences with fellow Baysiders.
Decorate the Castle for the Holidays

Lawrence Cemetery Tour — EVENT CANCELLED

Visit this NYC Landmark and final resting place of the city's first popularly elected mayor, Cornelius Van Wyck Lawrence, and other descendants of one of Bayside's founding families. History will come alive as we recount the stories of different members of the Lawrence family. Please note: This tour will require walking on uneven ground and there are no restrooms on site.
17th Annual Totten Trot 5K Foot Race & Kids Fun Run

Waterfront course through historic Fort Totten and along Little Bay Park to the Throgs Neck Bridge. "Kids Fun Run:" Short distance sprint for tiny tots & kids up to 12 years.

BHS will be participating on Sunday in the Open House New York Weekend, a five-borough-wide free event that celebrates architecture and design. Our staff will be on hand to give tours and talk about our beautiful building and its history.

4th Annual Independence Day Celebration

Bayside Historical Society is hosting an Independence Day Celebration with a free concert and fireworks display by Grucci in Fort Totten Park sponsored by Councilmember Paul A. Vallone, Queens Borough President Melinda Katz, and Dime Community Bank. Food vendors will be on site.

Planting Day at the Castle

Earth Day Spring Clean-Up at the Castle

Murder Mystery Dinner

BHS 17th Annual Winter Art Show

Cost: Free for BHS members; $5 non-members
Our annual Winter Art Show features contemporary Queens artists working in all media. All artists are welcome! The registration deadline is Friday, January 5, 2018. Artists may exhibit up to two works. Find out how to submit your artwork at the link below!
The opening reception will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2:00pm; there will be an awards ceremony and gallery talk, and light refreshments will be served.
The art show will be on view through Sunday, January 28, 2018. Exhibit hours will be Thursday-Friday, 10:00am-4:00pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 12:00-4:00pm.
